My name is Roderick Hames and I have been teaching for 19 years. 
My first 6 years were at Trickum Middle School and the last 13 years have been at Crews Middle School. I have a family of 4 children. Rod who is 10, Joy 9, Adrian 4, and Ana who is 3. My wife stays at home with our two little ones while Rod and Joy attend Craig Elementary.
I love teaching students who are eager to learn and at Crews that is the norm not the exception. It is a rich environment where professional growth is encouraged and new ideas are supported.
I started this Blog this year (2008-09) after attending NECC 2008 in San Antonio. I wanted kids to reflect on what they learned in my class. I also wanted parents and my colleagues to have a way to see inside my classroom. I also have started using a wiki with my 7th grade classes. They are syndicating newspaper articles they have written using our class wiki site.
